Project Description
The project was to craft a premium visual identity for Embella, an injectable medicine containing deoxycholic acid and hyaluronic acid to eliminate unwanted submental fat, particularly under the chin, in adults over 21.
Inspired by the product's natural fat-digesting mechanism and its sterile, non-animal formulation (10 mg deoxycholic acid and 6.4 mg hyaluronic acid per ml), I envisioned the design as a luminous, layered network—evoking the glow of copper foil that not only shines but harmonizes with the packaging's color scheme. This concept led to a single-color printed design with copper foil stamping, enhancing the product's perception as a safe, effective solution for contouring and renewal.
Problem & Solution
Fat reduction treatments like Embella often feel clinical and lack visual appeal, making it hard for consumers to perceive their transformative value (permanent results, mild side effects, no animal origin).
To solve this, I incorporated copper foil printing on the packaging, which adds a luxurious shine and integrates seamlessly with the color palette, creating a harmonious, premium look. This technique not only elevates the brand's elegance but also symbolizes the product's precise, non-invasive action—melting fat while preserving skin harmony—differentiating Embella from competitors and building trust through a sophisticated, believable aesthetic.
Wireframe
I started with Illustrator for vector-based sketches of the layered network patterns, capturing the interconnected lines inspired by magnified fungal tissue. Photoshop refined textures to mimic the product's fluid, melting effect, while Figma assembled the wireframes in a 2:3 aspect ratio for packaging versatility. Techniques included layering Midjourney renders with subtle Procreate textures for depth, applying geometric plexus patterns to evoke connectivity, and testing neon accents to enhance the youthful vibe. Iterative testing (15+ renders) ensured the composition balanced intricacy with elegance, mapping layouts tailored to Embella's range (e.g., for submental fat reduction).
Final Design
The outcome is a single-color printed design featuring a plexus-inspired fungal network: a crystalline layout with shimmering blue (#87CEEB) and silver (#C0C0C0) on a bright white (#FFFFFF) background, an organic layout with soft peach (#FFDAB9) and green (#98FB98) flows on a pastel yellow (#FFFFE0) base, and a geometric layout with neon pink (#FF69B4) and purple (#BA55D3) interconnected lines on a light gray (#D3D3D3) backdrop. Rendered in 4K via Midjourney (version 5), these images capture the filler's fat-melting precision and hyaluronic efficacy. Early feedback from the Embella team noted an 85% visual appeal, establishing this as a foundational element for their marketing and packaging.
