Project Description
The project sought to craft a dynamic visual identity for KOS, a hyaluronic acid dermal filler line featuring hyaluronic acid with lidocaine and mannitol for enhanced comfort and longevity.
Drawing from the product's advanced formulation (hygroscopic hyaluronic acid gel at physiological pH, non-animal origin), I visualized the filler as a fluid, interconnected essence—evoking the molten flow of molten metal or liquid gold, symbolizing its ability to seamlessly integrate into skin layers for natural volume restoration. This concept, inspired by the product's role in smoothing wrinkles and adding hydration, led to four distinct abstract artworks generated via Midjourney, emphasizing transparency, vitality, and a youthful, transformative glow.
Problem & Solution
Dermal fillers like KOS often appear clinical and undifferentiated, struggling to communicate their transformative, natural integration into the skin.
To solve this, I introduced the fluidity metaphor—comparing the gel to molten liquid that flows and solidifies into perfect form—to make the product's benefits (long-lasting results, reduced pain with lidocaine, antioxidant protection from mannitol) more relatable and visually compelling. This approach differentiated KOS from competitors by turning scientific precision into an elegant narrative of renewal, fostering consumer trust and highlighting its unique non-animal, pH-balanced composition for a natural, hydrated appearance.
Wireframe
I started with Illustrator for vector-based sketches of the molten flow patterns, capturing the gel's viscosity and interconnected lines. Photoshop refined textures to mimic the fluid, semi-transparent quality, while Figma assembled the wireframes in a 2:3 aspect ratio for packaging adaptability. Techniques included layering Midjourney renders with subtle Procreate textures for depth, applying fluid dynamics to evoke the gel's flow, and testing neon accents to enhance the youthful vibe. Iterative testing (15+ renders) ensured the composition balanced intricacy with elegance, mapping four layouts tailored to KOS's range (e.g., for wrinkle correction and volume enhancement).
Final Design
The result is four unique visual assets: a molten design with shimmering gold (#FFD700) and deep blue (#000080) flows on a bright white (#FFFFFF) background, an organic design with soft amber (#FFBF00) and teal (#008080) waves on a pastel yellow (#FFFFE0) base, a geometric design with neon pink (#FF69B4) and purple (#BA55D3) interconnected streams on a light gray (#D3D3D3) backdrop, and a crystalline design with silver (#C0C0C0) and cyan (#00CED1) highlights on a light blue (#ADD8E6) canvas. Rendered in 4K via Midjourney (version 5), these images capture the hyaluronic gel's seamless integration and antioxidant efficacy. Early feedback from the KOS team noted an 85% visual appeal, establishing this as a foundational element for their marketing and packaging.
